Alternate Technologies for Connectivity

Connectivity is vital for success of Digital India. Government of India has a National Programme to provide broadband connectivity to all 2.5 Lakh Gram Panchayats through National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN) project of DoT/BBNL (renamed as BharatNet). MeitY has been examining various wireless technologies to complement the BharatNet Project for provisioning broadband connectivity at a faster pace. Alternate Technologies to NOFN, include the wireless technologies of - TV White Space; RF including Wi-Fi hotspots; C-Band/VSAT/Satellite; etc.

Call for Proposals

Proposals are invited for carrying out Research & Development in emerging new alternate technologies for provisioning connectivity. The Project proposals should have clear objectives, scope, outcome and quantifiable deliverables. The proposals may be single or multi-institutional, with well defined milestones/ timelines and roles of individual institutions.
