Capacity Building

The capacity building efforts include supporting, facilitating and strengthening the infrastructure in the country for research in the Photonics. Some of the highlights of the capacity building efforts include the following. Under the project National Centre for Packaging of Photonic Devices at SAMEER, Mumbai, facility for Epoxy based optical fibre alignment and attachment is made available. This facility is being used by CEERI, BITS, IIT Bombay, IRDE, NeST et al. Construction and Multi-site commissioning of Multiple Fluorescence Correlation Spectrometers FCS is being undertaken at TIFR, Mumbai. Through this new project on Biophotonics short-term training and fellowship programmes are initiated. Specialized manpower development at various levels is undertaken through a project titled Photonic Micro-nano system-Advancement of Research and Education undertaken at IISc, Bangalore. The effort is to create a proper eco system for photonics among students and young researchers.
