e-Governance in India has received impetus following the approval of the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) in May 2006. Since then, it has been the endeavour of several departments across the Central and State Governments to usher in citizen centricity, service orientation and transparency through e-Governance projects. A number of initiatives have been taken by various departments to make use of ICT to bring about a transformation in administration as well as service delivery to the stakeholders.

Building capacities within the meta space of the Government is critical to the success of the e-Governance initiatives. Specific skills and knowledge are required to drive these projects from a concept stage to a full blown implementation and roll-out stage. This requires leaders at various levels with the vision, attitude and passion to implement change.

The National e-Governance Division (NeGD), in associate with the National Institute for Smart Government (NISG) is conducting 2nd batch of "Chief Informatics Officers' (CIO)" training programme for Officers of the Central and State Governments.

The CIO Training Programme is aimed at facilitating deep understanding of factors that result in failure and sustained success of e-Governance projects. It is meant for Officers who are expected to play a lead role in e Governance initiatives, right from conceptualizing to implementation and roll-out of a project.

The training starts on 16th January 2012 with a 4 week module in Hyderabad followed by a one week International Study tour. The 1st batch of CIO Training programme has been successfully concluded and the participants exposed to the best practices of Australia as part of the International Study tour.

The last date for applying is 31st December, 2011
